9. Cookies and pixels

Cookies are small text files that contain a string of characters and make a unique identification of a user. They are sent back to the website and/or third parties. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, as this is required by most websites in order to access them. However, you can change your browser settings so that your browser can generally reject cookies, block third-party cookies or indicate when a cookie is being sent.

Tracking pixels are scripts that run when a user lands on a website or opens an email. The pixel itself is not visible and can only be seen in the HTML of the site or email. The script downloads a third-party cookie onto your computer or detects that the email has been opened.

If you want to know more about cookies and how they work, please visit www.allaboutcookies.org.
